Already known to viewers from the previous movie, workaholic Marcus (Lil Rel Howery), who works in the construction business, returns to the screens again. It seems that he has finally found a balance between his professional and personal life, and his wife Emily (Yvonne Orji) is immensely happy that her husband is no longer consumed solely by his work. Emily and Marcus are planning their upcoming vacation on an unnamed island in the Caribbean.
The trip is actually a business trip, as a South Korean hotel company is planning to build a resort in Chicago and is considering Marcus' company to oversee the project. But before the important meeting with the head of the company, Marcus just wants to relax and spend time with Emily as well as two friends they met during their previous vacation. Recall that Ron (John Cena) and Kayla (Meredith Hagner) are a couple of rowdy and funny party people. They are now parents, but due to their inexperience upon arriving at the airport, they lose sight of their young child, so they hire hotel manager Maurillio (Carols Santos) to watch the kids while the four of them vacation for a week.
The worst thing that could happen in this situation is that representatives from the hotel company arrive at the resort prematurely, ready to discuss business and start negotiating a deal while Ron and Kayla are still there. Marcus tries to keep them away from their potential business partners. However, when Yeon (Ronnie Chieng) and some other executives from the Korean firm decide to discuss the plan and set some conditions, Marcus' loud friends unwittingly spill all the information and the deal is jeopardized.
