The action of the plot of the series unfolds 8 years after the end of the original drama. Already known to viewers the main character Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), who is a deputy U.S. Marshal working in Miami, Florida, returns to his home state of Kentucky to solve a tangled web of crimes and murders and at the same time help his ex-wife to raise his teenage daughter Willa (Vivian Olyphant). Mansell is known as a heartless and cruel sociopath who likes to manipulate people's lives, often with fatal consequences.
Mansell knows how easy it is to get away with murder. The unpunished maniac is back on the streets of Detroit. Thanks to clever loopholes in the laws that his slick lawyer knows about and has applied in the courtroom, Mansell feels invincible and is ready to make the judge his next victim. Meanwhile, homicide detective Givens believes the sociopath crossed the line long before the final madness. He's determined to see to it that Mansell doesn't escape justice this time, but that means the detective will have to play by the criminal's rules.
